Officially our new life began on the 28th of May. This was the date which we had to pass on our keys to the new occupier of our old home. But life with Bob began a couple of weeks earlier. She was moored at Leamington Spa in a beautiful rural part of England. Situated on the Grand Union Canal we had to begin our initiation into this new life on the big locks of this stretch of the water-ways. A little daunted and completely green our new adventures started here. I spent one night on Bob during this first 2 weeks, returning home to take care of things back at Summerhill. John meantime had the formidable task of bringing Bob back to the Lichfield area so that we could load our stuff on to the boat. My first night on board was unfortunately not a happy one. My sleep, when I could, was filled with night-mares and I awoke the next day pretty cold and damp! I began to have doubts... Oh no. Nothing could stop this from going ahead now, contracts were signed and the exchange was imminent. I left John to make his way homeward, while I just got on with life as normal. I didn't want to think about it. For 3 days I sat and did very little with everything lying around the house needing to be packed. A progress report from John let me know that every day it was looming closer. I sat and meditated, emptied my mind and fed the birds.
